Iza Marté pays tribute to Don Julián Iza, our great grandfather on our father’s side, who left his birth home in Nazareth, Palestine in 1912 in search of safety and a better life. With nothing but hope in his heart, he boarded a boat not knowing where it would take him. He then arrived in the vibrant, sun soaked land of the Dominican Republic. 

He left behind the family who saw him grow up, his language, his land. But he planted the seeds of something new. Through all the pain, displacement, and uncertainty he must’ve experienced and felt, he built a life, a home, and a family filled with love and strength. "Iza" is a remembrance of the roots he never forgot, and the name we never will.

"Marté" is a tribute to our mother. A woman who instilled greatness, grace, and unshakable strength. It is her fire and softness that breathe life into everything Iza Marté creates.

Together, Iza Marté is a celebration of where we come from, and all we’ve become. A history rooted in love, and the richness of two worlds blending beautifully.
